Nothing Fails Like Prayer

The Test of Prayer

Prayer is defined as a solemn request or thanksgiving to a god or Supreme Being.

The efficacy of prayer can be tested. If there is a god or Supreme Being out there somewhere, unseen, unheard, a reasonable prayer by a believer should be answered.

"A recent study conducted by the Duke University Medical Center on 700 patients, found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had no effect on their recovery.  There have been other studies. All failed to show efficacy. One only has to Google the Internet to find them.

Let us look directly at what Jesus said about prayers.  Jesus is quoted many times in the Bible saying that a believer can ask for anything through prayer and receive it.  He even goes so far as to say that mountains and trees can be thrown into the sea simply by praying for it.  This is clearly a lie, and can be proven to be a lie by any believer.  Simply pray for the world to be converted to Christianity immediately.  Or better yet ask God to move the mountains behind my house.  He could make a lot of converts that way.

Here are the quotes from Jesus that proves that he lied:

     1) And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen.  "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."  (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS) THAT’S A LIE!

     2) “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”. (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB)  THAT’S A LIE!

     3) Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.  For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”  (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS)  THAT’S A LIE!

     4)  “Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for himTherefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.”  (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)  THAT’S A LIE!

    5)  “And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”  (Luke 11:9-13 NAB) TOTALLY INANE! ANOTHER LIE!

   6) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.  (John 14:13-14 NAB)  THAT’S A LIE!

    7) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7 NAB)  THAT’S A LIE!

   8)  “It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.  (John 15:16 NAB)  THAT’S A LIE!

   9) On that day you will not question me about anything.  Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.  Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.”  (John 16:23-24 NAB)  THAT’S A LIE!

   10)  One of the biggest lies of all is when Jesus said Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12 KJV)  This lie does not require one to even pray.  It says that if you believe you can do greater works than Jesus did.  Do you really believe that?  If you do, you are delusional or stupid or both.

   11) “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak new tongues; They shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.  (Mark 16:17-18 KJV)  These lies can be easily tested; just pick up a black Mamba snake and see if shall not hurt you.  Or, drink a glass of sulphuric acid and see if it hurts you.  Please lay your hands on a terminally ill cancer patient and see if they recover.  These are three of Jesus’ biggest lies.

   12) If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) ANOTHER LIE.

The lies are easily and readily provable.

A lot of Christians ignore the plain words of these Gospel verses, and interpret the actual words to make them say something else.  If you honestly and truthfully read these quotes, without adding or twisting them, it is very easy to see that Jesus is not saying that God will think about your prayers.  He says God will grant all your prayers.  Clearly, God doesn’t grant prayers and this proves that Jesus was a habitual liar.

One of the biggest excuses offered by Christians to cover up these lies is that they say that Jesus or God will answer your prayers in his own due time.  There are two flaws in this argument.  One, Jesus put no conditions on his promises.  He said if you ask, it will be given to you.  Second, if the people on Flight 93 were about to crash on 9/11 into the Pennsylvania countryside, and a Christian asked to be saved, then Jesus or God could not wait to answer your prayers in their own due time.  The prayer would have to be answered immediately or else the promise is a lie, and the passenger is dead.

Lastly, Christians try to say that the words mean something else.  They try to reinterpret the meaning of the statements by Jesus.  That argument is false also.  The reason is simply that if the words do not mean what they plainly say, then the words are meaningless.  Either the words are true as stated or not.

Christians believe all the lies in the Bible because they are afraid to die and to face the truth that when they die, it is all over—forever.  Personally, Christians are to be pitied as weak-minded individuals who are delusional and cannot think clearly. They may be rational in all other respects of life, but believing in a superstition that is based on faith and not facts is irrational.

Some Other Bible Verses on Prayer

Jeremiah 29:7 says that you can pray to the Lord for prosperity and peace and it will be given to you.

Philippians 4:6-7 says that by praying to God, you will have peace which “passeth all understanding.”

1 Timothy 2:1-2 says that supplications (begging), prayers and intercessions and giving thanks for Kings and all in authority will lead to a quiet and peaceable life and honesty.

James 1:5 says that if you lack wisdom, just ask God that giveth liberally to all men and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him (the one praying).

Revelations 8:1-5 (and this is crazy) “And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.  And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.  And the angel took the censer and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thundering, and lightnings, and an earthquake.”  Here the prayers of the saints was used to speed up the end of the world.  God wasn’t far away because the incense reached his nostrils as well as the prayers his ears or mind.  Just reading Revelations shows how crazy these people were.

James 5:16 is not true.  It says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  Intercessory prayer has been proven not to work.  Just Google the internet for “Intercessory prayer,” and you can read the studies for yourself.

James 5:17 is a giant lie about prayer.  “Elias (Elijah) was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.”  This is false because if it didn’t rain for 3.5 years, all life on earth would die.  Now, here is the other half of the idiocy, James 5:18 “And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.”  Reader, do you really think that Elijah was able to prevent rain for 3.5 years just with prayers?  If you believe this verse, you are as loony as the people that wrote it.

Prayer raised the dead—Acts 9:40 says “But Peter put them all forth and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise.  And she opened here eyes and when she saw Peter, she sat up.”  Why more Christians aren’t using prayer to bring their dead loves ones back to life is surely a mystery or a joke.

Acts 12:1-17. Peter was in prison and he prayed and the chains fell off his hands and the prison doors opened.  Wow, let’s hope prisoners in American jails don’t learn to pray for prison doors to open.  Ridiculous!

Some Practical Aspects

Christians seem to function good enough to get by in society, but when it comes to religion and prayer, they have a complete disconnect between their brains and reality.  For example:Christians believe their God and Jesus are omnipotent.  There is nothing God cannot do.  When they pray for the healing of an illness, and the sick person is cured, they give God the credit for answering their prayers.

Now suppose a person loses his arm in a car accident.  Will God restore the arm if prayed to by a believing Christian?  No, absolutely not!  God will not replace a lost eyeball, a finger, foot, leg, kidney, heart.  If God is omnipotent, why doesn’t he replace those things?

In the bible Jesus healed two blind men. (Matt. 9:27-39)  If Jesus can heal two blind men, why does he not respond to prayers to heal all the blind people in the world?  The United Nations estimates that 100,000 people will go blind in the world this year, 2007.

It is the height of arrogance for a Christian to believe that a god will alter the laws of nature just to suit the Christians prayerful wishes.  The idiot governor of Georgia prayed for rain.  It rains when the elements of nature indicate there is enough moisture in the air and the prevalent winds and temperature indicate it should rain.  Why pray for rain anyway, doesn’t an omniscient god already know that you need rain?  Prayer is for idiots.

Prayer cannot stop a tornado, a bullet, or cure cancer.  Nothing fails like prayer.

When an intruder enters your home intent on harming you and your family, do you want a bible in your hand, a prayer on your lips, or a gun?

There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no demons, no heaven, and no hell.  There is only our natural world.  Religion is but a myth and a superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.

Here is one last example of the inefficacy of prayer. Suppose you are standing on a busy street corner waiting to cross the street with your 9-year-old child.  Stand next to you also waiting to cross the street is the Pope, 6 Cardinals, 12 priest and 8 nuns.  Also waiting is Billy Graham, Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggart, Reverend Al Sharpton, and one physician (medical doctor).

While standing next to the curb, and drunken truck driver comes down the street, runs up over the curb and hits your child.  The truck misses you and everybody else.  As you look down at your child he/she is unconscious and bleeding out of the ears and mouth.

The question now is who in the bystanders would you ask to help with your child?  If you are intellectually honest, you will say: “The physician.”  That would be the best answer because he is the only one that can help your child.  “Wait” you say, I would also ask the bystanders to pray for my child.  Okay, the bystanders pray and the physician tends to your child and hopefully the results are good.

Now, please let me alter the story.  In this second story, everyone is present that was in the first story, except this time there is no physician.  Your child gets hit by the truck and you turn to the clerics and nuns and ask them to pray for your child.  What do you think will happen?  Nothing, absolutely nothing because prayer has no efficacy.  These 31 religious people can pray until they are dead, and it will have no effect on your injured child.  If you don’t believe this, try it some time.  Try stopping a tornado, a bullet or curing cancer with prayer.  It won’t work simply because prayer has no efficacy, and that is a simple truth.
