Challenging CFI's Ronald Lindsey to a Faith Based Initiatives Debate

The
Center for Inquiry, proclaims
that it is the largest
organization representing
nonreligious Americans. Its
President and Chief Executive
Officer Ronald A. Lindsey submitted
a letter to President Obama on
Feb. 5th expressing discontent that the President hasn’t delivered upon his
campaign promises concerning
Faith-Based Initiatives. Upon
reading this letter, I sensed a
disconnect between a secular
leader and the common good of
society. Now President Obama can
speak for himself and doesn’t
need someone like myself to
defend him. Personally, I took
exception to the letter and
overall think that secular
opposition to Faith Based
Initiatives lacks proper
perspective that would easily be
exposed in a debate. I’m
proposing that Ronald Lindsey
and Brian Worley have a public
debate upon the merits of Faith
Based Initiatives. This would be
a secular debate focusing upon
the subject “Should
non-theist’s be opposing
faith-based initiatives?”
Ex-Minister
finds that Faith Based
Initiative opposition is
misguided and finds it strange
that the non-theist community
which loves to argue upon most
topics largely have lock jaw
upon this issue! I’ve targeted
Lindsey because: 1) he is a
secular leader 2) he should be
favored in a debate and is
considered passionate enough to
challenge others 3) this is the
man whom initiated a blasphemy
contest that encouraged
non-theist to take liberties
against good people of faith.
I’m not in Latvia anymore and this is something that would help put the organization on the map. Should Mr. Lindsey feel that his position is strong enough to take my challenge, this should be a newsworthy event that the media should get involved in. How? We would need the facility and everything else involved to make this happen! Ex-Minister has no funding and might need a sponsor should there be any expenses. Should Lindsey choose to ignore the request, I would ask Christian friendly media to push the issue! I’m not brash or arrogant to predict the outcome, but I promise that this should be interesting, entertaining and that people of faith would probably find such a debate enjoyable!
